Description

In the Inter-war period, the fear of imminent war was looming.
The Prince-Archbishopric of Aldonace recognized the need for a stronger military presence. This started the development of the Saint Etienne Medium Tank in 1931.
Built on the chassis of Aldonaces first tank Saint Jean, the second tank Saint Etienne proved to be more advanced and capable, with successful testing and mass production of about 218 of these, including modifications such as command vehicles and personnel carriers.
From May 1932 to December 1935, a total of 218 were manufactured. All of them would be utilized in WW2.

With an enlarged engine compartment, it now housed 2x 4-cylinder Joubert 110 hp petrol engine, improved which were also present in the Saint Jean tanks, which gave the tank a top speed of 14 km/h, only a fraction slower because of its larger size and weight.
The weight of the tank was 27 tons, thanks to the thick armored front, turret and heavy engines.
Frontally the armor thickness was 25 mm and 15 mm on the sides. An improvement of 5 mm to the front in comparison to its predecessor tank Saint Jean.
Main armament consisted of a 1930 Canon de Lebeau which had a caliber of 37 mm.
It had a secondary armament to fire at infantry in front of the tank, the 7.46 Mitraillette 1921.
The crew of 5 had the following roles: driver, gunner, loader, commander, mechanic/machine gunner.
