Description

This is my last piece for a little while as I'll be on a long vacation from now. Until next time! :)
EDIT: Decreased the range of fire for the cannons.
EDIT2: Added in a small map to show where on Earth Jan Mayen is.

When the Noordsche Compagnie, a Dutch whaling cartel, got major funding in the city of Amsterdam for their adventurous plans to turn the island of Jan Mayen into a fishing stronghold, this angered many Norse whalers as they claimed that the island belonged to the crown of Norway.
In 1768, things went downhill for the Dutch on Jan Mayen as the Norse landed, heavily armed and blessed by their King. The Norse fortified the settlement they called Fjellhorn, and made a second attempt in 1771 to set up Fort Frederik.
This caused a skirmish on water and land that could mean the end for Dutch-Norse relations. In the hostile tensions which lasted from 1769 to 1773, 3 Dutch ships were sunk by cannon fire.

Most impressive is the Battle of Kerkdijk which occurred in 1770 as Norse soldiers set up camp at the foot of the Beerenbergh, 4 kilometers away from the Dutch settlement of Kerkdijk.
A 9 men fight erupted, between 5 Norse soldiers and 4 Dutch sailors. One soldier from Norway had died at the battle after he slipped from a rock and suffered a deadly skull fracture.
The cause of this skirmish is still unknown to this day.

Inserting a small zoom-out map would be a nice addition, as it's hard to figure out where this island is located.
